MMA ODDS AND ENDS FOR MONDAY: OVEREEM VS. BROWNE RUMORED

There is a heavyweight fight rumored for this summer, and it’s a large one. According to MMAjunkie.com, former Strikeforce heavyweight winner Alistair Overeem is expected to come back to the cage at UFC 164, which takes place August 31 at Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI. And his rumored opponent is none aside from heavyweight banger Travis Browne, though this fight is still far from official. Should it materialize, however, expect this to be the co-main event for UFC 164 because it is unquestionably among the biggest fights of the summertime. Overeem, who had been shockingly knocked out by Antonio»Bigfoot» Silva in UFC 156, was set to return to action against Junior dos Santos in UFC 160 but had to pull out due to injuries, but healthy, he will look to get back into title contention by simply taking out the rising Browne, who also includes a recent reduction to Silva. This is a pretty even matchup but I really do favor Browne to win the fight, and I think he could acquire it . However, Overeem has all of the hype and public support behind him , although he dropped to»Bigfoot,» I expect him to open as the favorite in this struggle, perhaps in the -200 range, together with all the comeback on Browne being +150. And if that is true, then I will definitely be recommending a play on Browne, who is coming off a KO win over veteran Gabriel Gonzaga. Another bet to target with this fight will be that it does not go to decision, as man has the capacity to knock one another out, so definitely consider creating a play on that prop if it is under -300 come fight night. Lauzon vs. Johnson Booked For UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 The UFC today booked a lightweight bout between Massachusetts native Joe Lauzon and Michael Johnson for the upcoming UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 card, which takes place August 17 at Boston, MA. The battle will likely be a preliminary card bout. This is an excellent fight between 2 of the exciting fighters in the UFC lightweight branch so kudos to UFC matchmaker Joe Silva for booking it. For Lauzon, it’s an opportunity to redeem himself after losing to Jim Miller at a war at UFC 155, while Johnson really needs to bounce back big time after suffering back-to-back beats to Myles Jury and Reza Madadi. This is a competitive fight if it stays standing but when it hits the ground then Lauzon, who’s a BJJ ace, will have a massive advantage over Johnson, who has a very inadequate ground game. As such, I anticipate Lauzon to start at about -230 or with the launching comeback on Johnson being around +170, although things could easily change when the public decides they like Johnson to triumph. Personally, I think this is a really good matchup for Lauzon therefore I would call him to triumph and I definitely would be targeting him for a bet this summer, in addition to targeting the Lauzon via submission prop.
